What to include in your house rules
- Check-in and check-out times, and how self check-in works.
- Guest limits: maximum occupancy and your policy on visitors.
- Quiet hours, especially if you have close neighbors or a local noise ordinance.
- Smoking and pets. Note that service animals are always welcome.
- Safety: hot tub, pool, or fire pit rules, plus where the fire extinguisher and first-aid kit are.
- Checkout tasks — keep them short and reasonable.
- How to reach you, and the address to give 911.
Keep them consistent with your listing
Put your rules in your listing's house rules section too, so guests agree to them before booking — the sheet in the home is a reminder, not the first time they see them. Airbnb prohibits parties and events on its platform, so the template includes that line. Your rules also need to follow local regulations, and they can't limit who may stay based on race, religion, national origin, sex, disability, or other protected characteristics.
